In May 2018, the Princess Máxima Center in Utrecht officially began operations. Since then, all health care, research and training related to cancer children in the Netherlands have been concentrated here. About 600 children aged 18 and under are diagnosed with cancer each year, but fortunately the treatment has been improving and more than 75% of patients are expected to recover. However, there is still room for improvement: the patient's cure rate should reach 100%, and the side effects and sequelae need to be reduced. The goal of the Princess Máxima Center is to become the world's top five children's cancer research center by 2020.
